Baggish Red - Irish Red Ale brewed for Baggebaren, Double Wars XXXV
Posted on 2024-04-21
Since joining Baggeholm a few years ago, I’ve been brewing the beer for the camp bar at Double Wars. This is a beer that I first brewed in 2023, but due to poor documentation and ADHD I didn’t publish the recipe. I’m brewing the same thing again this year, so here it is:

Water
- Mash according to the mashing schedule using (grist weight)*3L water, i.e. (4.5+0.2+0.2+0.1)*3=15L.
- Goal volume is about 20L, and with a water retention rate of 0.5-0.6L water/500g grains, roughly 5L will be retained. As such, I will sparge with 20+5-15=10L of water.
- My pot has a boil-off rate of about 3L/h, so another 3L of water will be added to compensate.
- No water chemistry stuff is being done
